The workflow above the ledger: onboarding, month-end, workpaper review and client chasing, run as a managed queue your managers approve. Xero and MYOB stay. From $5,000 to map and build, $1,000 a month to run.
Bring your month-end checklist. We’ll show you which steps the queue would run and what it would cost. No charge, no deck.
WE’VE WORKED WITH PEOPLE LIKE YOU · THIS IS HOW IT IS NOW
Two to five partners, forty clients each, and a month-end that eats a week.
Partner-led firms serving small business, and PE-backed groups standardising after an acquisition. About $33 billion of revenue across 36,717 practices growing 1.2 percent a year. AML obligations from 1 July 2026 added client due diligence to every onboarding. The ledger is automated. The work around it is not.
Overseas, accounting is the most funded AI services category there is. Crete has a US$500 million acquisition budget. Basis is valued at over a billion. Here, PE is buying firms the traditional way and no AI-native entrant has landed. That gap is the workflow above the ledger, and it is where the hours go.
YOU WANT TO DO BETTER. YOU KNOW YOU CAN.
THEN WE WALK IN · WHAT WE BUILD
Four workflows, in the order they pay back.
Month-end first because it is the most repetitive. Chasing second because it is the most hated. Onboarding and review follow.
Bank feeds and receipts in. A closed month out. The manager reviews exceptions.

THE RAILS
01 · MONTH-END
Reconciliations, queries and the pack, assembled before the manager opens the file.
Bank feeds reconciled, unexplained items queried to the client, the management pack drafted. The manager reviews exceptions, not the whole file.
02 · CLIENT CHASING
Documents requested, followed up and filed without a human typing.
Missing receipts, signatures and answers chased on a sequence that escalates to a person only when the client goes quiet.
03 · ONBOARDING AND AML
Client due diligence built into the first day, not bolted on.
Identity, source of funds, engagement letter, Xero setup and the record AUSTRAC expects, in one queue with one approval.
04 · WORKPAPER REVIEW
Every workpaper checked against the firm’s standard before the reviewer sees it.
Completeness, consistency and the firm’s own rules applied first, so the senior’s review is judgement, not proofreading.
WE HOLD YOUR HAND · HOW IT RUNS
Six weeks for month-end. One partner’s clients first.
Weeks 1 and 2, we sit with one manager and map month-end as it actually runs across Xero, the practice system and the inbox. Weeks 3 to 5, we build and test on live clients with the manager approving every output. Week 6, live.
From then on it runs monthly per client. The manager sees the exception queue, the partner sees the pack, the client gets the query. Monthly we show the receipt and roll to the next partner’s clients.
THE PROMISED LAND · THE RETURN, WORKED
A three-partner firm’s month-end.
An illustrative scenario, not a client engagement: three partners, 120 small business clients on Xero, two managers and four accountants, month-end run from a spreadsheet checklist and memory.
01 · THE MAP
Nineteen steps per client, four of them chasing.
Reconcile, query, wait, chase, reconcile again, draft the pack, review, send. The same email typed 120 times with the client name changed.
02 · THE LEAK
Six and a half hours per client per month.
Nearly half of it waiting on the client or re-keying answers. Billed at a fixed fee that assumed four.
03 · THE QUEUE
What the engine did.
Reconciled the feeds, queried the unexplained items in the client’s own words, chased on a sequence, drafted the pack and flagged the exceptions.
04 · THE MANAGER
What stayed with the manager.
Reviewed the exceptions, approved the pack, had the conversation with the client whose numbers looked wrong. The judgement, not the typing.
05 · THE RESULT
Six and a half hours to two and a half. The fixed fee back in profit.
The firm took on thirty new clients without a new accountant. The partners got month-end back as a two-day event rather than a two-week one.
06 · THE CALL
Roll it to the next partner, or hand it back.
At month three we show the receipt. Hours per client and days to close. If it has not moved, you keep the engine and we stop charging.
Illustrative scenario, not a client engagement.
YOU THINK YOU CAN DO IT YOURSELF
You think you can do it yourself. You can’t. Not well, and not while running the firm.
You could buy the tools and wire them together on weekends. Most firms try. It works until the first exception, the first staff change or the first time nothing was logged for the licensee. The engine is the gate, the rules and the monthly receipt, not the software. You still own your data, your rules and the agreed right to run what we build. N+1 keeps its reusable code and may reuse generic components.
FAQS
FAQs
CHOOSING
Month-end, chasing, onboarding or review first?
Month-end, unless chasing is costing you clients. The 20-minute call usually settles it in five.
SYSTEMS
Do we have to leave Xero or MYOB?
No. The ledger stays. The layer reads from it and writes back through the APIs the vendor already provides. If Xero ships the feature next year, you still own the workflow we built on your rules.
COMPLIANCE
How does AML fit in?
Client due diligence runs inside onboarding as a queue with a named approver and a record you can show AUSTRAC. We build it to the obligations in force from 1 July 2026 and maintain it as they change.
COST
What does it cost and what is excluded?
From $5,000 inc GST to map and build one workflow for one partner’s clients, paid up front. From $1,000 a month to run. Practice system and ledger API fees, where charged, are quoted separately.
LEAVING
What if we stop?
30 days’ notice. You keep the mapped workflow, the rules and the agreed right to run what we built. The queue stops. Nothing else changes.
OUTPUT
Is this just another practice management app?
No. Apps give your team another login. This runs the work and asks your manager to approve the decisions that matter. We are measured on hours per client and days to close, not seats.
WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOSE
Let us have a look. What have you got to lose?
How many hours does month-end really take per client? Message me and we’ll have a look. We were doing AI well before ChatGPT existed. We’ve seen it all. Worst case, you walk away fired up by what you can achieve and with a serious education in what is possible.
